Alfie Moore: A Face for Radio
Alfie Moore: A Face for Radio presented by Theatr Mwldan
£20
Somewhere in a parallel universe little Alfie’s natural comedic performance skills were recognised by his doting parents who encouraged and developed his blossoming talent. After several years as a stage school brat Alfie’s angelic face was launched on stage and screen and the rest is history.
Meanwhile, in this universe Alfie Moore was told to stop messing about in class before being ‘encouraged’ into the grinding, grimy world of an apprenticeship in the Sheffield steelworks. When recession hit he traded steel for copper by joining Humberside Police.
Thirty years of shift-work, initially in the Sheffield steelworks and then as a copper on the beat (where he was punched in the face quite a lot), has left him with ‘a face for radio’. A face not so much ‘lived in’ as inhabited by a settlement of squatters with little regard to property maintenance and repair.
In his 40s a surprising career shift turned middle-aged Alfie from street cop to BBC radio star. But when TV fame beckoned could he grasp it or was he past it?
Rhywle mewn bydysawd cyfochrog cafodd sgiliau perfformio digrif naturiol Alfie eu cydnabod gan ei rieni cariadus a oedd yn annog ac yn datblygu ei ddawn eginol. Ar ôl sawl blwyddyn mewn ysgol lwyfan, cafodd wyneb angylaidd Alfie ei lansio ar y llwyfan a’r sgrin ac mae’r gweddill yn hen hanes.
Yn y cyfamser, yn y bydysawd hwn dywedwyd wrth Alfie Moore am roi’r gorau i'w ddrygioni yn y dosbarth cyn cael ei ‘annog’ i fyd diflas a bawlyd prentisiaeth yng ngwaith dur Sheffield. Pan darodd y dirwasgiad fe newidiodd dur am ‘gopr’ drwy ymuno â Heddlu Glannau Humber.
Mae deng mlynedd ar hugain o waith sifft, yng ngwaith dur Sheffield i ddechrau ac yna fel plismon ar y bît (lle cafodd ei bwnio yn ei wyneb gryn dipyn), wedi ei adael gyda ‘wyneb ar gyfer y radio’. Nid wyneb ‘cartrefol’ mohono, ond yn hytrach wyneb sydd wedi gweld diffyg cynnal a chadw ar hyd y blynyddoedd.
Yn ei 40au, fe drodd newid annisgwyl mewn gyrfa yr Alfie canol oed o fod yn blismon stryd i fod yn seren radio'r BBC. Ond pan ddaeth enwogrwydd teledu i'w ran, a allai fynd i’r afael ag ef, neu a oedd wedi mynd yn rhy hen?

Martyn Joseph
Martyn Joseph presented by Theatr Mwldan
4 December - 7.30pm
£21
Martyn Joseph is a completely unique and mind-blowing artist. Take everything you think you know about singer songwriters and rip it up. For one man and a guitar he creates a performance with a huge far-reaching sound that is energetic, compelling, and passionate.Be it to two hundred people or twenty thousand, he blows the crowd away night after night.
2024 kicked off with the release of a new “masterful and career defining” (Fatea UK) studio album, “This Is What I Want To Say”, along with a sell out UK tour, followed by shows in mainland Europe and North America.
Compared to Bruce Springsteen, John Mayer, Bruce Cockburn and Dave Matthews, he has created his own style and reputation as a mesmerising live performer and stands in his own right, built on a reputation for giving what thousands have described as the best live music experience of their lives.
A unique talent driven by passion, social awareness, and love for his trade, he's a jaw dropping guitar player who has developed a unique percussive style, teamed up with a powerful show stopping voice, and has been called “The Welsh Springsteen”.
Artist cwbl unigryw a syfrdanol yw Martyn Joseph. Cymerwch bopeth rydych chi'n meddwl eich bod chi'n ei wybod am gantorion-gyfansoddwyr caneuon - a'i anwybyddu. O ystyried mai un dyn a gitâr ydyw, mae’n creu perfformiad gyda sain enfawr bellgyrhaeddol sy’n egnïol, cymhellol, ac yn ddwys. Boed yn perfformio i ddau gant neu ugain mil o bobl, mae'n llwyr ryfeddu’r gynulleidfa noson ar ôl noson.
Dechreuodd 2024 gyda rhyddhau albwm stiwdio newydd “meistrolgar sy’n diffinio gyrfa” (Fatea UK), “This Is What I Want To Say”, ynghyd â thaith o’r DU y gwerthwyd pob tocyn ar ei chyfer, ac yna sioeau yn Ewrop a Gogledd America.
Mae wedi cael ei gymharu â Bruce Springsteen, John Mayer, Bruce Cockburn a Dave Matthews, ac mae wedi creu ei arddull a'i enw da ei hun fel perfformiwr byw cyfareddol ac mae'n sefyll yn ei rinwedd ei hun, wedi'i adeiladu ar enw da am roi'r hyn y mae miloedd o bobl wedi'i ddisgrifio fel profiad cerddoriaeth fyw gorau eu bywydau.
Talent unigryw ydyw sy’n cael ei yrru gan angerdd, ymwybyddiaeth gymdeithasol, a chariad at ei grefft. Mae’n chwaraewr gitâr syfrdanol sydd wedi datblygu arddull ergydiol unigryw, ynghyd â llais pwerus sy’n hynod drawiadol, ac mae wedi ei alw “The Welsh Springsteen.”
